In describing the partnership with Mudbone Grown, NHC CEO Jeri Weeks had this to say:

“We believe everyone has the right to good health – but we all don't have the same starting point or the same opportunities to access it. NHC serves over 20,000 patients in the Portland metro area – nearly 60% of whom live below the federal poverty level. We provide patient-centered care at NHC, and we know our neighbors can't be healthy if they don't have access to things like transportation, housing, and healthy food.”

Weeks added:

“In addition to Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, we hope to learn from and support the work Mudbone Grown is doing through their Feed’em Freedom Foundation – which activates Black Agriculturists as owners and food movement leaders in their own communities.”

This free public event is sponsored by CareOregon and held in partnership with Kaiser Permanente in celebration of National Health Center Week (August 7-13), an annual celebration aimed at raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades.

Neighborhood Health Center (NHC) is a non-profit community health center that serves a federally designated Medically Underserved Population (MUP) in a federally designated Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA).
