This position provides adult and pediatric phlebotomy services to patients in order to provide diagnostic information for use in our patient care. This person works closely with the clinic team to ensure immediate, courteous, and comprehensive responses to requests for service, or concerns about specimens and related matters. This person ensures proper collection and processing of laboratory specimens (or patient samples).

Essential job duties:

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary collection on patients of all ages with minimal patient discomfort or repeat punctures and provides appropriate post-care of phlebotomy site
  • Review the laboratory schedule and verify and complete orders
  • Assure completeness and accuracy of specimen labeling
  • Communicates with and assists patients in a professional and courteous manner

Education and experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Graduation from an accredited phlebotomy or medical assisting program required
  • 1+ years of phlebotomy, specimen handling, central processing, or medical assisting required
  • Certification as ASCP (PBT), NHA (CPT), RPT (AMT), NCPT (NCCT), or equivalent required
  • NCMA medical assistant certification a plus (not required)
  • Bilingual English and Spanish language skills a plus
